(February 19, 2008)This term has been remarkably unblogworthy. (Apparently overloading means you have to work a lot.)
One exception was a trip to Hollywood to see Wicked at Pantages theater. As most people know by now, Wicked is the story of the witches from the Wizard of Oz. It's true, Glinda and the Wicked Witch of the West used to be friends. Kind of. Anyway, it's a cute story (especially since I love the Wizard of Oz) but was borderline too "theater-y" for my taste. It's true, I'm not a theater lover by nature, but ever since I heard the music of Avenue Q I've been open to a bit more. Still, I think it's more that I love Avenue Q than I like musicals. Anyway, Wicked was quite enjoyable. I loved "Popular" and thought Guh-linda was fabulous. Everyone's favorite "Defying Gravity" put me over the edge into way too dramatic territory and felt really out of place in the show, like a song they tried really hard to work in for some reason.
